| Short description | UK Apple (PCTC 253) first pressing (October 1974) of John Lennon's "Walls And Bridges" LP. Housed in the original unlaminated cover designed by Roy Kohara and printed by 'Garrod and Lofthouse' with the front section divided into three equal parts with two fold-over portions. Complete with the original full colour eight page booklet containing lyrics and some of Lennon's childhood paintings and the sepia tinted picture inner sleeve printed on thick card. Matrix: YEX 937-Z5 (stamped), SW1-3416-Z-5 etched and crossed out YEX 938-Z6 (stamped), SW2-3416-Z-6 etched and crossed out. “Walls and Bridges” was recorded during John Lennon's infamous "lost weekend," as he exiled himself in California during a separation from Yoko Ono. Lennon's personal life was scattered at the time, so it isn't surprising that “Walls and Bridges” is a scattered itself, containing equal amounts of brilliance and standards. Falling between the two extremes was the duet with Elton John "Whatever Gets You Thru the Night" whose bright surface was replicated throughout the record, particularly on rockers like "What You Got" but also on enjoyable pop songs like "Old Dirt Road." However, the best moments come when Lennon is more open with his emotions - "Going Down on Love," "Scared", "Steel and Glass," and the beautiful, "No. 9 Dream" are amongst of the finest tracks he recorded
