ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'
We received this useful information by email from a friend. We feel that it is important for the MBP community, particularly to those who are travelling abroad, and we decided to make it available via www.most-bridge.com
PS. We think, that regardless of
spoken language, the abbreviation ICE - 'In Case of Emergency' should be
accepted worldwide.
The MBP-Team
The following is a
standard procedure for all paramedics to use at the scene of an accident when
they find yours cell phone.
ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'
We have our mobile
phones, with names and numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than
ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends.
In case of
emergency, paramedics wouldn't know whom to call. Hundreds of numbers are
stored but which one is related to the contact person in case of an
emergency? Hence, ICE-Campaign has been
started.
The ICE-concept is
evolving quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As mobile phones are carried by the majority
of people, all you need to do is store in the mobile phone the telephone number
of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under
the name ICE - 'In Case Of Emergency'.
The idea was
proposed by Mr Bob Brotchie – a paramedic, who found that mobile phones were
always with patients at the scenes of accidents, but they didn't know which
number to use. Therefore, he thought that it would be a good idea to specify an
ICE-name on national level (also international – MBP). Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff
would be able to quickly contact the correct person by simply dialling the
ICE-number.
Let's store an
ICE-number in our Mobile phones today! For more than one contact name simply
enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc.
Please send link
to this information to your family and friends. Then everybody will know about
this soon. It really could help. ICE-number will speak for you when you are not
able to.
(This contact number could also be helpful
if you simply lost your handset – MBP)
