Privacy Policy from SEDAM Communication Limited

The content of this page is an Official Policy approved by Directors of SEDAM Communication Limited (the Company). This policy may not be amended or ignored by the Most-Bridge Project (MBP) Participants, Licensors or Agents (For Terms and Definitions see Terms and Conditions)

1. General Scope

This Policy covers personally identifiable information collected or stored by the Company on its servers in relation to the Most-Bridge Project (MBP) and its Users. Consistent with its Data Retention Policy, the Company collects and retains the least amount of personally identifiable information needed to fulfil the Projects' operational needs.

2. The public nature of the MBP

The Most-Bridge Project (MBP) of the Company is collaboratively developed by its Participants and the Company using the MBP software. Anyone with Internet access (and not otherwise restricted from doing so) may submit information to The Website with logging-in as a Participant. By doing this, a Participant creates a published document (Publication). All contributions made to MBP, and all publicly available information about contributors, as provided by them, may be seen by other Participants with few restrictions. Publications in open pages (e.g., Services, Environment, Market may be seen by The Website Users without logging-in.

3. Activities on MBP

In general, this Policy only applies to private information stored or held by the Company which is not publicly available.

Interactions with the MBP not covered by this Policy include, but are not limited to, aspects of browsing, creating and editing Publications, use of the MBP "email user" function, subscribing and posting to Company hosted email lists (inactive currently), and corresponding with Participants via the MBP's “Contact via MBP” function. These interactions may reveal a contributor's IP address, and possibly other personal information, indiscriminately to the general public, acting independently of the Company.

Participants may also interact with one another outside of The MBP Website, via email, or chat, or independent websites, and should assess the risks involved, and their personal need for privacy, before using these methods of communication.

4. User accounts and authorship

The Company does not require users to register with a MBP. Anyone can browse pages without logging in with a username, in which case they will be identified by network IP address. However, the Registration is an important part of the MBP concept as it allows Participants to interact with each other on the subject of the Website Publications. Participants that do register select a password, which is confidential and used to verify the integrity of their account. Except insofar as it may be required by law, no person should disclose, or knowingly expose, either user passwords and/or cookies generated to identify a user. Once created, user accounts will not be normally removed, except for explicit request from the account holder or by the Company in the event of a breach of The User Agreement. It may be possible for a username to be changed however The Company does not guarantee that a username will be changed on request.

5. Purpose of the collection of private information

The Company limits the collection of personally identifiable user data to purposes which serve the well-being of the MBP, including but not limited to the following:

5.1 To maintain the Website database so that MBP Participants could establish contact with potential partners notwithstanding the possible language barrier.

5.2 To enhance the public accountability of the Project. The Company recognizes that any system that is open enough to allow the efficient interaction of the Participants will also be vulnerable to certain kinds of abuse and counterproductive behaviour. The Company has established a number of mechanisms to prevent or remedy abusive activities. For example, when investigating abuse on MBP, including the misrepresentation, vandalism, harassment of other Participants, or disruptive behaviour, the IP addresses of Participants (derived either from those logs or from records in the database) may be used to identify the source(s) of the abusive behaviour. This information may be shared by The Company with administrative authority.

5.3 To provide site statistics. The Company statistically samples raw log data from users' visits. These logs are used to produce the site statistics pages; the raw log data is not made public.

5.4 To solve technical problems log data may be examined by developers in the course of solving technical problems and in tracking down badly-behaved web spiders that overwhelm the site.

6. Details of data retention

6.1 General

6.1.1 IP and other technical information

When a visitor requests or reads a page, or sends data to a MBP server, no more information is collected than is typically collected by web sites. The Company may keep raw logs of such transactions, but these will not be published or used to track legitimate Participants.

When a page is visited by User, the server confidentially stores related IP information for a limited period of time. This information is automatically deleted after a set period.

6.1.2 Cookies

The Website sets a temporary session cookie on a visitor's computer whenever an MBP page is visited. Readers who do not intend to log in may deny this cookie; it will be deleted at the end of the browser's session. More cookies may be set when one logs in to maintain logged-in status. Participants using a public machine who do not wish to show their credentials (E-mail and other contact information submitted during Registration, and the User name) to future users of the machine should log out after use.

6.2 User Contributions

6.2.1 Submitting Publication

Publication can be prepared and submitted to the Website only by a MBP Participant logged-in with valid MBP credentials (E-mail address and password). After submission to the website (Publication Registration) the Publication is permanently attributed to the Participant (Author of the Publication) by his, or her, or their User Name. The Company reserves the right to deny the Publication Registration to any user for any reason. A Logged-in registered user's IP address is stored on the MBP servers for a period of time, during which it can be seen by server administrators and by MBP administrators. IP address information, and its connection to any usernames that share it, may be released under certain circumstances (see below).

6.2.2 Reading Publications

No more information on users and other visitors reading pages is collected than is typically collected in server logs by web sites. Aside from the above raw log data collected for general purposes, page visits do not expose a visitor's identity publicly. Sampled raw log data may include the IP address of any user, but it is not reproduced publicly.

6.2.3 Editing Publications

A publication can be edited only by the Participant – Author of the Publication. However, the Company reserves the right to make stylistic changes to the information provided by Participants.

6.2.4 Deleting Publications

Contributions to The Website on its Publications, User pages and Talk pages are generally retained forever. Information can be “unpublished” (made unavailable for viewing) or it can be removed by Participants – authors of the corresponding Publications or by the Company in the event of a breach of The User Agreement. Removing Publication does permanently delete it from the MBP server.

6.3 Discussions

6.3.1 On MBP discussion pages (currently inactive):

Any MBP page can theoretically be the location of a discussion. In general, discussions on MBP may occur on User Talk pages (associated with particular users), on Publication Talk pages (associated with particular Publications) or in pages specially designated to function as Forums. Privacy expectations apply to discussion pages in the same way as they do elsewhere.

6.3.2 Via email:

Users are required to submit a valid email address when registering. These email addressees are accessible from the Participants page to other registered and logged in Participant (only for the last 100 registrations). VIP MBP Participants (Fellow Members and Professionals) are not required to list an email address when upgrading their Participant status to these VIP categories. Users who provide a valid email address can enable other Participants to send email to them in relation to the submitted Publications. When receiving an email from other users through the Contact us via MBP function, one's email address is not revealed to them. When choosing to send an email to other users, one's email is displayed as the sender.

The User email address may be used by the Company for MBP related communication. Users whose accounts do not have a valid email address will not be able to reset their password if it is lost. In such a situation, however, users may be able to contact The Website Administrator with a request to enter a new e-mail address. A VIP MBP user can make the account's email address unavailable to other Participants at any time to prevent it from being used for communication purpose. Private correspondence between users may be saved at those users' discretion and is not subject to The Company Policy.

6.3.3 On mailing lists (currently inactive):

The email addresses used to subscribe and post to MBP mailing lists are not exposed to other subscribers. These email addresses and any messages sent to a mailing list may be archived.

6.3.4 Via Contact us via MBP Function:

Some VIP Participants can opt to use a Contact us via MBP function, to receive communications from other participants or MBP Team. Mail to staff of the Company may also be forwarded via the Contact function. These messages and the corresponding e-mail addresses may be saved on the MBP server and may remain available to a very limited number of Company Employees (e.g., System administrator, Company Director), but they are not publicly visible.

6.4 Donating to MBP

You may wish to support the MBP using for your donation a Credit or Debit card or the PayPal payment.

We confirm that we do not store and do not intend to store financial details (credit or debit card numbers). The Company may keep logs of such transactions, but these will not be published or used by the Company to track the donating Users.

7 Access to and release of personally identifiable information

7.1 Access:

Privileged users who may have access to private identifiable information include, but are not limited to SEDAM Communication Limited employees, contractors and agents, and also developers and others with high levels of server access. Access to and publication of this information is governed by the Access to non-public data policy, as well as specific policies covering some of the functions in question. Sharing information with Privileged users is not considered "distribution."

7.2 Release: Policy on Release of Data

It is the policy of The Company that personally identifiable data collected in the server logs, or through records in the database, or through other non-publicly-available methods, may be released by Company, in any of the following situations:

Except as described above, The Company policy does not permit distribution of personally identifiable information under any circumstances.

7.3 Third-party access and notifying registered users when receiving legal process:

As a general principle, the access to, and retention of, personally identifiable data in MBP should be minimal and should be used only internally to serve the well-being of the MBP. Occasionally, however, the Company may receive a subpoena or other compulsory request from a law-enforcement agency or a court or equivalent government body that requests the disclosure of information about a registered user, and may be compelled by law to comply with the request.

8 Disclaimer

The Company believes that maintaining and preserving the privacy of user data is an important value. This Privacy Policy, together with other policies, resolutions, and actions by the Company, represents a committed effort to safeguard the security of the limited user information that is collected and retained on our servers. Nevertheless, the Company cannot guarantee that user information will remain private. We acknowledge that, in spite of our committed effort to protect private user information, determined individuals may still develop data-mining and other methods to uncover such information and disclose it. For this reason, the Company can make no guarantee against unauthorized access to information provided in the course of participating in MBP.
